In order to ensure the safety and health of live pigs during transportation, prevent the spread of animal diseases, standardize the operation of pig transport vehicles, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of breeding households and related enterprises, this notice is hereby issued to clarify the relevant requirements for pig transport vehicles. All relevant units and individuals shall strictly abide by it.
1. Vehicle Requirements
All pig transport vehicles must meet the national and local relevant standards for live animal transport vehicles, and be equipped with necessary facilities such as ventilation, temperature control, anti-slip floors and railings. The vehicle body shall be intact, free of damage, leakage and pollution, and shall be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure normal operation. Before each transportation, the vehicle shall be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and a disinfection record shall be made for future inspection.
2. Loading Requirements
When loading live pigs, the density shall be reasonable to avoid overcrowding, which may lead to injury, stress reaction or even death of pigs. The loading process shall be gentle, without rough operation such as beating or pushing. Pigs of different ages, sizes and health conditions shall be loaded separately to prevent fighting and cross-infection. Before loading, the health status of each pig shall be checked, and sick, weak or injured pigs shall not be loaded for transportation.
3. Transportation Process Requirements
Drivers shall strictly abide by traffic rules, drive steadily, avoid sudden acceleration, deceleration and sharp turns, and minimize the jolt of the vehicle. During transportation, the vehicle ventilation shall be kept unobstructed, and the temperature inside the vehicle shall be controlled within a reasonable range (generally 15-25℃) according to the weather conditions. It is strictly prohibited to stop in areas with dense people, livestock and poultry farms or polluted areas for a long time. The transportation time shall be shortened as much as possible, and for long-distance transportation, necessary rest and drinking water shall be provided for the pigs regularly.
4. Unloading Requirements
After arriving at the destination, the unloading shall be carried out in an orderly manner, and the operation shall be gentle to avoid injury to the pigs. After unloading, the transport vehicle shall be cleaned and disinfected again immediately, and the disinfection record shall be completed. The unloading site shall be clean and tidy, and shall be far away from the breeding area to prevent cross-contamination.
5. Responsibility Requirements
All relevant units and individuals shall establish a sense of responsibility, strictly implement the above requirements, and ensure the safety and health of pig transportation. For those who violate the relevant provisions, resulting in pig injury, death or the spread of animal diseases, relevant responsibilities shall be pursued in accordance with national laws and regulations.
